OVERVIEW

JE’s Thailand Service & Culture itinerary immerses travelers in northern Thailand’s culture and community life. Travelers will explore sacred temples, hike the monks’ trail, and learn Thai culinary traditions in a hands-on cooking class. Several full days are devoted to meaningful service projects alongside local residents. Scenic highlights include Doi Inthanon National Park, a visit to a coffee farm, and quality time at an elephant sanctuary. This tour balances cultural discovery, impactful service, and personal encounters with Thailand’s natural wonders.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: TRAVEL DAY

DAY 2: TRAVEL DAY

  • Cross the International Date line

DAY 3: CHIANG MAI

  • Arrive in Chiang Mai & meet your JE Tour Director at the airport
  • Drop off luggage at the hotel
  • Visit a local café/coffee shop ministry for lunch & orientation
  • Visit Wat Chedi Luang & learn about Buddhism in Thailand
  • Dinner
  • Debrief & devotions

DAY 4: CHIANG MAI

    • Breakfast at hotel
    • Depart via coach
    • Hike the monk’s trail up to Wat Pha Lat Temple
    • Return to the hotel
    • Lunch
    • Spend the afternoon serving the community
    • Dinner
    • Visit a Chiang Mai night market
    • Debrief & devotions

DAY 5: CHIANG MAI

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Enjoy a Thai cooking class & learn to prepare a variety of dishes
  • Lunch at the cooking school enjoying what you prepared
  • Spend the afternoon serving the community
  • Dinner
  • Debrief & devotions

DAYS 6-7: SERVICE DAYS   

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Spend the entirety of each day serving the local community
  • Dinner
  • Debrief & devotions

DAY 8: DOI INTHANON NATIONAL PARK

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Depart via coach
  • Visit the Doi Inthanon National Park & tour a local coffee farm
  • Lunch at a Thai café
  • Return to Chiang Mai
  • Dinner featuring a northern Thai-style meal
  • Debrief & devotions

DAY 9: ELEPHANT SANCTUARY

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Enjoy a visit to an Elephant Sanctuary to get up close with these incredible creatures*
  • Spend time feeding, petting & bathing the elephants (activities dependent on elephants day-of)
  • Lunch
  • Return to Chiang Mai
  • Clean up at the hotel
  • Dinner
  • Debrief & devotions

*Elephant riding is unethical & will not be available at the sanctuary.

DAY 10: TRAVEL DAY

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Depart for the airport
  • Fly home
