ITINERARY

DAY 1: TRAVEL DAY

DAY 2: TOUR OF OLD MADRID / TELEFERICO RIDE

  • After meeting your JE Tour Director at the airport, you will transfer by coach to your hotel
  • Ride the Teleferico de Madrid to get a view of the city
  • Dinner

DAY 3: PRADO MUSEUM / PARQUE DEL RETIRO / PALACIO REAL DE MADRID / GRAND VIA

  • Breakfast
  • Enjoy a guided walking tour of Old Madrid and visit the Plaza Major, Puerta del Sol, and the Palacio Real
  • Lunch around Parque del Retiro
  • Visit the Prado Museum and explore the exhibits on your own
  • Shopping at Mercado de San Miguel and on Grand Via
  • Dinner

DAY 4: ATTEND LOCAL CHURCH / EL RASTRO / REINA SOFIA ART MUSEUM

  • Breakfast
  • Attend a local church
  • Lunch
  • Shop in El Rastro market
  • Visit the Reina Sofia Art Museum and explore on your own
  • Dinner

DAY 5: VISIT TOLEDO

  • Breakfast
  • Take the train to Toledo
  • Tour Museo del Ejército and the Alcazar
  • Lunch
  • Enjoy a walking tour with a local guide to explore the city with architectural influences from Christianity, the Moors, and Judaism
  • Free time to explore Toledo
  • Return to Madrid by train
  • Dinner

DAY 6: TRANSFER TO BARCELONA

  • Breakfast
  • Depart for Barcelona
  • Stop in Zaragoza for lunch
  • Visit Basilica del Pilar before continuing on to Barcelona
  • Check into your Barcelona hotel
  • Dinner
  • Evening exploring old Barcelona

DAY 7: BARCELONA

  • Breakfast
  • Visit Poble Espanyol, build for the 1929 World’s Fair, this recreated Spanish village contains ten centuries worth of Spanish architecture as well as numerous cultural exhibits and presentations
  • Lunch
  • City tour through the ancient streets of the Gothic Quarter
  • Barcelona Cathedral
  • Walk through the Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria, to see a diverse market of foods
  • Free time exploring La Rambla, a tree-lined pedestrian boulevard filled with street vendors and performers
  • Dinner

DAY 8: BARCELONA

  • Breakfast
  • Visit La Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s unfinished and controversial cathedral
  • Lunch
  • Explore Park Güell to see the famous mosaics and a view of the city
  • Dinner

DAY 9: TRAVEL DAY

  • Depart for the airport and home
