Walk in the Footsteps of Christ

WALK IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE CHRIST

A tour of the Holy Land is nothing less than a spiritual pilgrimage as you travel the very same paths that Jesus traversed over 2000 years ago. The stories of the Bible come alive, even while walking among ruins, and standing in the very locations where Jesus stood brings a sense of awe and wonder as you come to a new understanding of his teachings. We invite you to join us as we follow the path of Christ through his earthly homeland.

A boat tour is the beginning of your journey through Israel! Your group will cross the waters of the Sea of Galilee to reach Capernaum, the ancient site known as the center of Jesus’ ministry in the Galilee region. A synagogue now stands on the very site where Jesus shared the truth about the Kingdom of God and the Good News of salvation through faith. Not far from Capernaum lies the hill known as the Mount of Beatitudes. It is considered the site where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount to the multitudes of people who had begun following him as he went about teaching the ways of heaven. Standing on this hill and looking across the fertile plain below always reminds us of God’s constant presence.

The best way to understand a man’s journey is to literally walk in his footsteps, and a tour of the Holy Land allows you to do just that for the very Son of God. From the cave in Bethlehem that is revered as the birthplace of Jesus and the nearby Shepherds’ Field where innumerable angels first proclaimed his birth, the life of our Savior will stretch out before you. You will see ancient Roman cities that Jesus passed during his three-year ministry on earth, and you will visit the site of Jericho, where our own hero of the faith, Joshua, led the Israelites to conquer Jericho by marching for seven days until God caused its walls to collapse. From Jericho, you can also see the site where Jesus was tempted by Satan and overcame him by only the Word of God. During your tour, you will stand in the Upper Room, revered as the place of the apostles’ Last Supper with Jesus, and you will have a chance to pray in the Garden of Gethsemane as Jesus did on the eve of his crucifixion. There is perhaps nothing more powerful than to walk along the Via Dolorosa and remember the agonizing steps Jesus took on this path as he carried his cross to the hill of Golgotha to die for the sins of all mankind and open the doors of heaven forever. And there is nothing more awesome than to stand atop the Mount of Olives and remember the ascension of Jesus to heaven as he instructed us to “go and make disciples.”Walking in the footsteps of our Lord is like no other experience you will ever have.

We invite you to join us as we return to Israel and embark on this extraordinary pilgrimage of faith. Contact a Joshua Expeditions representative today to learn more about how your group can participate.
