OVERVIEW
Empower local communities & partake in hands-on service learning opportunities on the Missions in Utah tour! Throughout this trip, your group will have the unique opportunity to come alongside and serve ex-members of the FLDS religion seeking recovery and healing from their abuse. In addition, you will also be able to journey through the beautiful landscape that makes up the incomparable Zion National Park. Your group will leave this tour forever impacted by the local people & landscape.
ITINERARY
IMPORTANT TRIP INFORMATION
- Max of 50 people total for this trip
- All activities based on ministry availability
- No buses are allowed on this trip due to the nature of the ministry & groups having to potentially work at different sites at the same time
MINISTRY INFORMATION
- You will be serving in a former FLDS community. Many families here are recovering from abuse after leaving the FLDS religion and are completely starting over with their lives. Ministry projects can range from serving at a local food bank to helping community members with projects around their homes. You will also have the opportunity to host community outreach events.
DAY 1: TRAVEL DAY / ORIENTATION
- Arrive in Las Vegas & meet your JE Tour Director
- Drive three hours to ministry (Hildale, UT/Colorado City, AZ)
- Check into ministry housing
- Tour of town with history lesson & cultural sensitivity lesson
- Orientation for your week of ministry
- Dinner & devotions
DAYS 2-3: MINISTRY
- Breakfast
- Spend each day serving at a food bank or in projects around the community
- Lunch & dinner each day
- Devotions each day & debrief from your service
DAY 4: ZION NATIONAL PARK
- Breakfast
- Depart for Zion
- Spend the day hiking & exploring one of the most beautiful national parks in the US
- Lunch at the park
- More hiking & exploring
- Depart for ministry
- Dinner & devotions
DAY 5: TRAVEL DAY
- Breakfast
- Check out of your ministry housing & depart for Las Vegas
- Stop at Hoover Dam (if time permits)
- Depart for the airport
