The Difference a Cow Can Make

THE DIFFERENCE A COW CAN MAKE

Most of us in America take cows for granted. We can easily run to a grocery and purchase milk, butter, cheese, and an assortment of meats. Not everyone, of course, partakes in dairy products or eats meat, but the average American consumes around 600-650 pounds of dairy products each year, only fifty or so fewer pounds than vegetables and fruits combined.

So why all this talk about cows?

It doesn’t take a cattle or dairy farmer to recognize that cows can make a huge economic impact. Especially where resources are scarce, owning cows can introduce a productive food source into a community.

At JE, we are proud, then, of our productive partnership with the International Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (IACCS) and the work they are doing specifically in Uganda. The trips you have taken with us have allowed us to help purchase ten cows for orphanages in the region, bettering their economic livelihood, even if only in this small way. Praise God!

Check out these pictures to see something of the impact we are able to make together:

We are particularly proud of our partnership with IACCS because of the difference they are making beyond this. Last year, they purchased five cows, three of which have produced calves. They built a children’s church, gave away several bicycles to teachers, provided shoes to children who had never owned any, and supplied orphans with toothbrushes and toothpaste.

IACCS now has over 200 schools from 16 districts in Uganda, ministering to over 61,000 students with 2,034 teachers.

Will you pray with us that God would continue to use IACCS in meeting both the physical and spiritual needs in Uganda and elsewhere?
