“In the month of May, the program admitted 26 children. During their time in the hospital, the mothers were also counseled on child upbringing, child care, proper nutrition, farming/ gardening, and starting up small-scale businesses.

The program headed up prayer meetings and counseling sessions for the mothers. On a daily basis, the mothers together with their children had prayer meetings and the team was able to share the gospel with them daily. As a result, four mothers received Christ Jesus as their Savior.

The program also included health education sessions. These were conducted by the healthcare workers at the medical center. In these sessions, caretakers acquired knowledge and practical skills in family planning, personal hygiene, breastfeeding, supplementary feeding, emergency nutrition response, immunizable killer diseases, and proper care for babies and children among others.

Of the 26 children admitted, 22 showed great nutrition improvement. They were able to eat, drink, play, gain appetite, and no longer have fevers. Four of the children registered little progress at first. However, their appetite increased, and they were consequently able to eat. All but 1 of the children were discharged and released to return to their homes in the Kamuli district at the end of the month.”
