Everything you need to know to prepare, plan, and travel with confidence.
We want you to feel confident and prepared every step of the way. Below are answers to some of the most common questions from travelers and families. If you need additional support, your Group Leader is your primary point of contact throughout the process.

What happens if I need to cancel my trip?
Cancellation policies, refunds, and insurance details are outlined in the Payment & Trip Policies. You can also access these documents in your Travel Lounge account.

How do I cancel my trip?
To cancel, email the billing team and notify your Group Leader to ensure your group stays informed.

Are there additional fees?
Most costs are included, but some destination-specific expenses may vary. Your itinerary will clearly outline what is and isn’t included before departure.

How do students typically pay for trips?
Families approach this in different ways—some pay out of pocket, while others fundraise through support letters, part-time jobs, or a combination of both.

Should I purchase travel insurance?
Travel insurance is strongly recommended. It protects your investment in case of unexpected cancellations or emergencies.

Is any insurance included in the trip cost?
Yes. Trips include accident coverage as secondary insurance, and all guides are trained in CPR and first aid.

What are the luggage requirements?
Travelers should bring one suitcase and one carry-on. Be sure you can carry your own luggage, and check airline policies for updated baggage rules.

Will someone meet us at the airport?
Yes. A JE Tour Director will meet your group at the destination airport and guide you throughout the trip.

Where will we stay?
Students stay in clean, reputable hotels or ministry facilities that are centrally located.

What supervision is provided?
Each trip includes a trained JE Tour Director along with a Group Leader and additional chaperones when needed.

How is safety handled?
Safety is a top priority. Trips include trained leaders, vetted accommodations, and ongoing support throughout the journey.

What kinds of activities will students participate in?
Trips are designed to include a balance of cultural experiences, ministry opportunities, and group connection.

Depending on the destination, activities may include:

  • Service projects
  • Children’s ministry
  • Sharing testimonies
  • Supporting local ministries
  • Cultural exploration

What should I pack?
Packing will vary by destination, but you should plan for comfort, cultural sensitivity, and weather conditions.

What will the weather be like?
Check the forecast for your destination about a week before departure to pack appropriately.

How much spending money should I bring?
We recommend bringing a small amount of cash (around $10–15 per day) while also using debit or ATM cards when available.

Do I need to notify my bank?
Yes. If traveling internationally, notify your bank ahead of time to avoid account holds while abroad.

How can I stay in contact during the trip?
Your Group Leader will have a full itinerary with contact details. For safety reasons, this information is shared directly with families before departure.
