OVERVIEW
Get ready for an exciting trip to a land rich with historical and cultural significance on the Explore Munich & Salzburg tour! Your journey will kick off in Munich where the charming old town square of Marienplatz awaits your group. Stroll down these streets as you visit other historic sites including Dachau Concentration Camp before transferring to the land of Mozart, Salzburg. Step back in time as your group explores the Hohensalzburg Fortress before touring the infamous Sound of Music movie filming sights!
ITINERARY

DAY 1: TRAVEL DAY
DAY 2: MUNICH OLD SQUARE / ST.PETER’S CHURCH / HOFBRAUHAUS
- After meeting your JE Tour Director at the airport, you will transfer by coach to your hotel.
- Afternoon guided walking tour of Marienplatz
- Afternoon internal climb at St. Peter’s Church
- Shopping at Viktualienmarkt
- Dinner /Hofbrauhaus
DAY 3: DACHAU CONCENTRATION CAMP / OLYMPIA PARK / BMW MUSEUM
- Breakfast
- Morning interior, guided tour of Dachau Concentration Camp
- Lunch
- Afternoon interior, self-guided visit to the Olympia Park (entry fees included for the tower and stadium)
- Afternoon interior, self-guided visit to the BMW Museum / Welt
- Dinner
DAY 4: ATTEND A LOCAL CHURCH / RESIDENZ PALACE MUSEUM
- Breakfast
- Attend a local church or visit to a local museum
- Lunch
- AFternoon self-guided interior visit to the Residenz Palace Museum
- Dinner
DAY 5: SALZBURG OLD CITY / HOHENSALZBURG FORTRESS
- Breakfast and check-out
- Transfer to Salzburg via coach
- Lunch
- Afternoon self-guided exploration of Altstadt (Old Town)
- Afternoon self-guided visit to Hohensalzburg Fortress
- Dinner
DAY 6: SOUND OF MUSIC CITY TOUR / MOZART’S BIRTHPLACE / SHOPPING ON GETRELDEGASSE
- Breakfast
- Morning guided Sound of Music City Tour (Visit Mirabell Gardens, Hellbrunn Palace, Nonnberg Abbey, etc.)
- Afternoon interior, self-guided visit to Mozart’s Birthplace
- Shopping on Getreidegasse Street (be sure to try a Mozartkugel!)
- Dinner
*Tonight your group may opt to attend a Salzburg dinner musical or concert – ask for prices!
DAY 7: HALLEIN SALT MINES TOUR / ALPINE LUGE / OLD TOWN BERCHTESGADEN
- Breakfast and check-out
- Morning interior, guided tour at the Salt Mines Tour
- Depart for Berchtesgaden for lunch
- Afternoon time to explore and shop in Old Town Berchtesgaden
- Depart for Munich via coach
- Dinner
- Night in Munich
*For summer groups, the Alpine Slide can be added to this day at time of quoting.
DAY 8: TRAVEL DAY
STAY LONGER?
- Add 1-3 days, and visit Vienna, explore Zugspitze or Garmisch-Partenkirchen!
