JE PARTNER SCHOOL FEATURED ON “EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION”
Just six months ago a devastating flood ravished entire neighborhoods in and around Nashville, Tennessee, inflicting severe damage on buildings, families, and communities. One of Joshua Expeditions’ partner schools saw eight of its 18 buildings damaged or destroyed in the midst of the rushing waters. An entire preschool building was even picked up and carried across multiple sports fields and through the streets! Yet, in the days that followed, school leadership thought not of themselves but of the many families in need of aid. Lighthouse Christian School rose above their own devastation to provide recovery assistance to their neighbors. Now, they are on the receiving end of ministry as the team at Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has provided Lighthouse with a brand new preschool to kick off the rebuilding efforts.
With more than 3,000 volunteers working round the clock, Lighthouse Christian’s new preschool was completed in just seven days. Plans are now underway for the next phase of construction that is currently scheduled for May 2011. Lighthouse Headmaster Brian Sweatt expressed his gratitude to all the volunteers and the many who continue to pray for the Nashville families. “It has been wonderful to see God pour out His blessings upon us,” said Sweatt, “He has given us such a great opportunity to influence our community for His kingdom.”
