Guide Spotlight: Meet Christine

She was born in London, grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, lived for fourteen years in Italy, and then moved to New York City (not to mention, she speaks fluent Italian, Greek and Afrikaans!) The real question is where HASN’T this guide traveled to?! Get to know one of our stellar New York guides, Christine!

Christine’s love for New York City, the cultural melting pot that welcomed her as she sought to pursue her passion for music, is what first spurred her to become an NYC licensed tour guide. She graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 2004 and founded a music production company, working as a production manager, orchestra administrator and tour manager as well as a photography and video creative.

With her diverse background, Christine offers a unique yet complete “New York Experience” and enjoys showing off New York City and its vibrant neighborhoods.

Q: How long have you been a guide with JE?

A: 6 years!

Q: What locations do you guide in?

A:  New York, Boston, Greece, and Italy

Q: What is your favorite location to guide & why?

A: New York, it’s a vibrant and dynamic city and there’s always something going on beyond  just tourism!

Q: Tell us a favorite story from guiding or traveling! 

A: One of the highlights of the New York trips is visiting the New York common pantry. They get the opportunity  to bond as a team and learn to work well together while also meeting other people who are volunteering as well as the people they are putting food together for. Not all travelers get to go to that specific mission, but those who do have such a wonderful experience.

Q: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A: Chocolate…..or Middle Eastern food

A: Phone charger, alarm clock, and a small backpack

Q: If you could give a JE traveler one piece of advice, what would it be?

A: Bring comfortable shoes and a sweater, we walk 12-18 miles a day! 

Q: What is the best lesson you’ve learned from traveling?

A: There is so much more to a city than just shopping, take the time to truly experience the culture.

Q: Is there a verse, passage, worship song, or piece of Gospel truth that is particularly meaningful to you?

A: Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”
