EVA, A NINE-YEAR-OLD REFUGEE
When the war began, our Romania ministry partners opened their doors to take in as many war refugees as possible. Nineteen Ukrainians have moved in as they wait in safety to see the outcome of their homeland. This group of refugees consists of ten children, seven women, and two men.
Their original plan was to stay temporarily, but many of their passports have expired during their stay. They will have to wait for their passports to get renewed before they can leave Romania.
Despite the inconvenience, our ministry partners are using this time to build relationships and share Christ with their new friends.
It has been humbling to see how these people who have lost everything are quick to share all that they have.
Their days are filled with lots of activities for the kids including crafts and bible stories. This is their favorite part of the day!
Eva is the oldest among the children at nine years old. She is described by the others as being smart, wise, and a very talented artist.
Our ministry partners have loved having her, along with all of the others, at the facility. They have truly taken them in as their own. Eva was given her first bible in Ukrainian and was able to read about Jesus’ death and resurrection for the first time. She was beaming with excitement!
These people have lost everything. Daily they receive phone calls that their homes have been bombed and destroyed. Some of these refugees were the only ones in their families to make it out of Ukraine and find shelter. They carry a heavy sense of guilt because of this and feel wrong for even getting to take a proper shower.
There is still so much need for Ukrainian refugees who need a place to stay. As much as our Romanian partners would love to have more people, they have hit maximum capacity.
Please join us in praying for salvation and hope for these wonderful people. And please pray alongside us that the Lord would continue to provide for our local ministry partners being the hands and feet of Jesus in Romania!
