Prayer Guide for Parents

Parents, you are such an integral part of your students’ travel experience! Whether your kids send updates often or get distracted by all the fun & forget to check in, they know that you are thinking of them often on their tours. One of the most impactful things you can do while your child is traveling is lift them up to the Lord in prayer. Here are some specific things you can be praying over your kids during their trip:

1. Safety

Pray for physical safety as they travel. Pray for wisdom & discernment for their pilots, drivers, & guides. Pray that the Lord would keep them out of harm’s way, and that they would not be fearful or afraid

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8

2. Excitement

Ask the Lord to fill them with excitement for all they are going to experience! Pray that they would be eager to see & try new things & that they would soak in every moment of their trip

…the joy of the Lord is your strength. Nehemiah 8:10

3. Comfort

Whether or not travel is familiar to your child, pray for the Lord’s comfort for them while they are away. Specifically, pray that they might be comforted by God in the midst of new surroundings & that they would be able to be flexible in new situations

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8

4. A Servant’s Heart

Pray that your child would have a heart for serving others, whether that be through formal service like building a house or simply through daily service to his or her fellow travelers. Pray that your son or daughter would be quick to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Pray that the Spirit would help them see opportunities to bless others

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:44-45

5. Eyes to See & Ears to Hear

Ask God to show your child the many ways He is working all over the world. Help them to see that the Lord is mighty over all things and all people & is moving in every corner of the globe. Also pray that they would be in tune to ways that God is speaking to them & what He might be revealing to them about their own life

My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. Proverbs 2:1-5

6. Growth & Encouragement

Pray that the Lord would use this trip to continue to grow them in Christ-likeness. Pray that they would return home encouraged in the Lord & excited to pursue Christ in everything they do

May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ. 2 Thessalonians 3:5

7. Salvation

We know that God can save anyone anywhere! If your son or daughter does not know the Lord, pray that God would use this trip as a catalyst for salvation, that they would come to know the love of Christ personally!

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. John 3:16-17
